According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania Despite earlier reports, Update: the Miami Heat are reportedly not trading Goran Dragic to the Dallas Mavericks,

Instead, Miami is sending Kelly Olynyk and Derrick Jones to Dallas. The Mavericks reportedly love Dragic, but were unwilling to give up flexibility, according to Marc Stein of the New York Times.

Earlier :The Miami Heat made a big move this evening, working out a sign-and-trade for All-Star swingman Jimmy Butler, sending Josh Richardson to the Philadelphia 76ers.

That’s not the only big move Miami has made, though .

The Heat have reportedly traded their veteran point guard, Goran Dragic, to the Dallas Mavericks. ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne broke the news on The Jump and it’s been confirmed by Tim Cato of The Athletic.

“The Mavericks have traded for Miami’s Goran Dragic, multiple sources confirm. Dragic is the only other Slovenian in the league, and was roommates with Luka Doncic during Slovenia’s 2017 EuroBasket run,” he reports.

This was likely made in order to clear enough cap space to give Butler a full four-year max contract, though it’s possible the Heat could be getting something back.

Miami’s roster doesn’t look great for 2019-20, though Butler was reportedly sold on a plan for the summer of 2020.

Part of tonight’s Heat meeting with Jimmy Butler, per source, was a full detailing of the plan for the suammer of 2020 as well. Not that Jimmy wasn’t sold before 6:01 p.m., but he was even more so as the night went along,” the AP’s Tim Reynolds tweeted.

Dragic will join his former Slovenian teammate, Luka Doncic, in Dallas. The Mavericks have also signed Kristaps Porzingis to a five-year contract.
