 Bad Health Conditions Among Palestinian Prisoners

Palestinian Detainees Affairs Commission warned on Thursday, from health deterioration situation of a number of sick and wounded Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli detention centers, in light of the continued policy of deliberate medical negligence and failure to provide effective treatment.

Detainees Affairs Commission monitored two of the most serious cases which need immediate intervention medical treatment :

  1. Muhammad al-Badin, 27, from Taqoua town in Bethlehem, who is facing a very difficult health situation.
    He complains of infections in the white blood cells, suffers from severe stomach and intestinal pain and feels tired all the time. Muhammad has lost weight of more than 12 kg. He has been subjected to medical tests, and is expected to be transferred to a specialist to diagnose his health and receive proper treatment.
  2. Mohammed Maharatha ,29 years, from Hebron suffers from serious health condition. Noteworthy, he was injured in an accident during his transfer of the so-called "Bosta". His body was hit in the iron chair, causing his shoulder to be dislocated causing severe pain. He was transferred to "Raymond" clinic, where doctors took him only a radiograph of the injury without giving him any real treatment for his condition.
  3. Khaled Makhamra, a 24-year-old from Hebron suffers from the effects of being shot by the Israeli army during his detention. He was injured in the back, hand and leg. His leg needs an urgent operation.
  4. Mahmoud Attallah from Nablus, was recently transferred from the isolation of the "Raymond" camp to the isolation of Ohli Kedar, suffers from previous injuries to his chest and stomach. Despite his many health problems, the prison administration provides him with analgesics only.
  5. Khaled Badha, 16, from Deir Ammar  town in Ramallah, who is in Ofer detention center, complained of ulcers, kidney stones and gallbladder. He needs medical follow-up for his medical condition.
  6. Mahmoud Attallah from Nablus, was recently transferred from the isolation of the "Raymond" camp to the isolation of Ohli Kedar, suffers from previous injuries to his chest and stomach. Despite his many health problems, the prison administration provides him with analgesics only.
