Israeli occupation doesn't need any justifications to commit crimes against Palestinian fishermen, says Zakaria Baker, Head of Fishermen Union Committee.
Baker said in a statement to Gaza Post, "Israeli authorities detained four fishermen, claiming they were trying to smuggle large amounts of fiberglass knowing that they didn't have this alleged substance when they were arrested.
"This substance is mainly used to manufacture ships and children toys which means they are used in civil industries in contrast with the Israeli claims." He added.
Baker went on saying, "The occupation turns all the Palestinian marine peaceful protests stationed eastern Gaza into hostile ones in order to mislead the international public opinion and plays the role of victim."
According to the Union's recent report, 26 Palestinian fishermen were arrested while 27 were injured, 9 ships were confiscated and 41 were destroyed during the latest escalation on the besieged coastal enclave.
