After Christchurch Attacks, Facebook to restrict livestream feature

A company executive at Facebook company said on Tuesday that Facebook has announced that it limited the use of the livestream tool in order to restrict the harm of spreading hate.

Facebook added that those who break the rules will be barred from using the livestream feature. “ Dangerous Organizations and Individuals”  rules would be included Facebook said.

“ We plan on extending these restrictions to other areas over the coming weeks, beginning with preventing those same people from creating ads on Facebook”, Guy Rosen, Facebook’s vice president of integrity, wrote in a press release.

This announcement came 2 months after the mosque attacks in Christchurch, New Zealand. Noteworthy, the attacks left 51 person dead after the shooter livestreamed the attacks on Facebook and led followers to the video.
