Gaza Post –GAZA// Loai Tayseer Salama Al Qariuti, 47 years old, is a Palestinian man from Al Qaruit village in the occupied West Bank. He received a Ph.D. degree in civil engineering from Cairo University in Egypt. The title of his research is "Designing non-central plants to desalinate seawater using renewable sources of energy in the Gaza Strip".
Al Qaruiti said that the main goal for this research is to find a solution for the acute shortage of potable water in the besieged Gaza Strip and to suggest using the renewable sources of energy to overcome the crisis of power in the strip.
He added saying, "The reason beyond working on this kind of researches is that I have always aspired to get a high degree since I was just a student in university. This ambition has never stopped me despite I had been detained and chased by Israeli forces many times before.
He pointed out that one of the most difficulties facing any Palestinian citizen living in the Gaza Strip is to move from the strip. That is because of the repeated closure of the Rafah crossing, in addition to some difficulties in any academic research study. However, all difficulties were overcome in order to reach the desired goal.
