To stop Israeli settlements
Shtayyeh calls for concrete measures to halt settlement construction :official
Prime Minister Mohammad called on Wednesday the European Union to take concrete action to halt Israeli occupation’s colonial settlement construction.
The Prime Minister reiterated his call for the EU to put pressure on Israel to allow elections in occupied Jerusalem and throughout occupied Palestine, while emphasizing the importance of international pressure on Israel to lift the siege on Gaza, support the reconstruction process, and provide guarantees that what is being built will not be destroyed.
He briefed Borrell on Israeli violations in occupied Jerusalem, including the city's policy of Judaization (the obliteration of the city's Palestinian character) and isolation from its periphery, as well as the policy of forcible displacement and transfer of Palestinians, particularly in the Sheikh Jarrah and Silwan neighborhoods, and invited Borrell to visit Palestine.
He added the importance of the European Union's recognition of the State of Palestine to save the possibility of achieving the two-state solution amidst the alarming Israeli settlement expansion and land confiscation.
