Israeli crimes against journalists
Israeli soldiers shoot Palestinian Journalist in head...DETAILS
Nasser Ishtayeh, a photojournalist, was shot while documenting a protest in the town of Deir al-Hatab when violence erupted between a group of youngsters and the Israeli occupation Forces.
The PJS (Palestinian Journalists Syndicate) stated that they would seek justice at the International Criminal Court for such crimes against journalists.
The International Federation of Journalists has consistently decried Israel's purposeful targeting of journalists. In July 2021, the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ) urged the UN Human Rights Council to speak out on the subject, stating that "this [targeting of journalists] breaches not only the rights of journalists, but also the rights we all have to receive information about events in Palestine."
“Journalists' rights and safety must be ensured when covering demonstrations,” stated IFJ General Secretary Anthony Bellanger. The intentional targeting of Palestinian journalists must end. We express our solidarity with Nasser and the PJS."
