The Palestinian Authority
The Palestinian Authority condemned on Friday what it described as “the dangerous Israeli escalation” in Jerusalem and the rest of the West Bank, warning of its repercussions.
Palestinian presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh said in a statement, “The continued practices of the occupation and its continuous violations of the rights of the Palestinian people will create tension and a dangerous escalation.
“The attacks are violation of the rules of international law,” Abu Rudeineh said, adding that “this is in addition to settlement expansion in all Palestinian lands, which is in violation of all international legitimacy decisions.” Abu Rudeineh held the Israeli government “responsible for this escalation and its repercussions.” He called on the international community to provide protection for the Palestinian people. He also urged the United States to “pressure Israel to stop its aggressions, so that things do not reach an uncontrollable stage.” On Friday, Palestinian and Israeli sources announced that two Palestinians were killed and a third was wounded by Israeli soldiers in the West Bank, claiming that they had attempted to attack an army base in Jenin.
It is the second shooting attack in the West Bank in less than a week. On Sunday, an Israeli was killed and two others were wounded in a shooting attack near the Za'tara military checkpoint in Nablus.
After three days of pursuit operations, the Israeli army announced that its forces had arrested a suspect in the operation, while a Palestinian boy was killed two days ago by Israeli bullets in Nablus. --
