The ozone hole
The United Nations declared that the ozone hole over the South Pole, which record-breaking in the fall of 2020, completely disappeared at the end of last December.
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO), affiliated to the United Nations, said it confirmed what it declared on January 6 that "the ozone hole in the South Pole closed 4 months after its appearance", explaining that it is "the largest since the start of monitoring" in this field.
The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) warned in the United Nations headquarters in Geneva in October last year, after studying the atmosphere in cooperation with the European Union's "Copernicus" atmospheric surveillance agency.
The organization warned that the ozone hole over the South Pole has reached its maximum size in 2020 and became among the biggest and deepest in the last years.
